Sand Fleas Bites
A trip to beach
means probability of getting several bites
from a flea. Sand fleas are also known as
beach flea which are less than 3 mm or 1/8
of an inch in size and are generally difficult
to notice. This creature is like a shrimp
in appearance and is present in various colors
ranging from brownish to pale. Its body has
seven segments and long legs that are used
for jumping or swimming. One may find the
bites in clusters around the ankles.
Sand fleas only feed on decaying and organic
plants. They usually stay near to their breeding
land that is mainly swamplands, creeks, wetlands
and lakebeds. They are never found 100 meters
away from their breeding ground. If you are
hearing a high-pitched sound producing from
these fleas, it is better to move from that
area to avoid sand flea bite or to get rid
of fleas. Like mosquitoes, a sand flea usually
bites to suck your blood. These small creatures
are persistent and a quite annoying living
thing. It bites only to get protein present
in your blood they require at the time of
laying their eggs. It involves its saliva
to blood which makes blood thinner so that
it is easily sucked by these fleas. Irritation
in the body is due to triggered reaction in
immune system of the body that occurs by the
same saliva of sand fleas.
Ironically, the bite is quite painful despite
of its size. In fact, in most of the cases
a bite from flea is more painful than bite
from other small creatures like mosquitoes.
With painful bite, it causes rashes on the
bitted skin area that continues for many days.
Some times, infected person may also get fever.
The rashes or welts occur by its bite is very
itchy. If the bitten area would be scratch
further, the possibility of spreading of infection
gets likely to increase and also it can prolong
itch, swelling and retain redness of skin.
Procedures of treating flea bites and prevention
from sand flea bites are very much similar
to mosquitoes. If there is more relentless
reaction occurring due to sand flea bites
then the person is required to get medical
treatment. The only way to avoid its bite
is to get rid of fleas found in sand or avoid
going in that area where these are present
in clusters or wear sandals.
